I was born and brought up in the historic town of Chinsurah, on the banks of the river Hooghly in state of West Bengal, India.
I graduated from Calcutta University in commerce with an emphasis on accountancy and hold a post graduate diploma in Business Management. I worked as a banker with the State Bank of India and retired from Kolkata High Court S.P.B.Branch in the year 2018.
I have been exploring my love for photography since 1974 when I was a student of standard IX in my high school. I started photography with a simple Agfa Isoly II camera borrowed from my aunt, shooting whatever I felt like. My father presented me a Pentax K1000 camera in the year 1986 and that’s where my photographic journey started.
I am essentially a self taught photographer. I learned the basics from books and periodicals, observing shots taken by great photographers and practicing what I learned from those pages.
Photography is my medium of expression, my one and only creative outlet. I take photos that are honest and I shoot to capture what gives me an emotional response. I am not a photographer; I just take photos for my love of it.
I started on the exhibition trail a few years ago and have been pursuing the FIAP distinctions and have attained the EFIAP distinction, establishing a level of achievement with my work at national and international levels.
Besides photography, art and culture give me pleasure and satisfaction. I am also interested in traveling and reading.I am associated with Photographic Association of Chinsurah – a local photographic club, and Antareep.Chinsurah- a social and cultural organisation.
Sincerity, hard work and truth are the things which give me the strength to go forward in life
